Retainer Pain Post Braces

When your braces are taken off, the most important next step is the retainer process.  Retainers are made to fit you newly straight teeth and you will wear them 24/7 for the atleast the next few months.

In most cases the retainers will cause some pain initially while your teeth are adjustment to the shape of the retainer.  Retainers are made to be extremely tight so that your teeth stay put.

The first 2 to 4 weeks are the most critical for wearing your retainers.  In many cases where one did not wear their retainer, they actually had braces put back on, depending on the severity of the movement post braces.

The retainer pain will go away as your teeth get used to them.  Hang in there as the pain usually only last a few days.
